Corrections Policy

Accuracy is the foundation of The Rothman Report. When we get something wrong, we fix it promptly and say so.

How we correct

  • Factual errors, such as a wrong name, date, number, quote or characterization of a source, are corrected in the article, and a dated Correction note is added at the end explaining what was wrong and what is now right.
  • Significant errors that change the meaning of a story are noted at the top of the article as well as the bottom.
  • Updates: when a story develops after publication, such as a new ruling, a statement from someone involved or newly released records, we add a dated Update note rather than silently rewriting the article.
  • Minor fixes such as typos, spelling and formatting that don’t change meaning are corrected without a note.

We do not delete articles to hide mistakes. In the rare case an article must be withdrawn, we replace it with a note explaining why.

How to request a correction

Send us a correction request with the article link, the statement you believe is wrong, and, if you can, a source showing the correct information. We review every request. If you are a subject of one of our stories and believe it is inaccurate, we want to hear from you.
