Friday brought a former American president lecturing Israel from a stage in Belfast and Israel’s prime minister answering him. In New York, a mayor’s labor agenda is threatening thousands of working-class jobs, and Canada’s assisted-death system is again on display. I also have a Democrat sheriff who got pushed out of his own party, an ordinary coworker who may have prevented a massacre, and a string of failures and threats in courts and election offices.
Netanyahu Answers Obama’s Belfast Attack: ‘We’re Not the Belgians in the Congo, We’re Jews in Judea’
Three days after Barack Obama told roughly 7,000 people at Belfast’s O2 arena that Israel “took land off people,” Benjamin Netanyahu answered him in an English-language video on X, rejecting the colonial smear and calling the land by its name: Judea. It was a personal rebuke of a former president, delivered eleven days before Israelis vote, and it was long overdue. Jews returning to Judea are not colonizers, and I’m glad to see an Israeli leader say so without apology. Read the full story →
Mamdani-Backed Delivery Bill Could Cost NYC 7,000 Jobs, and Amazon Already Did This in Quebec
Amazon says it may close its 15 New York City last-mile warehouses if the City Council passes Intro 518, Tiffany Cabán’s Delivery Protection Act, a bill backed by Mayor Zohran Mamdani that would effectively force the direct hiring of about 5,000 contractor drivers. Experts told the New York Post that Amazon is likely to follow through, as it already did in Quebec, putting roughly 7,000 drivers, sorters and warehouse staff at risk. Small delivery firms say they’d be wiped out, which shows who actually pays for socialist labor policy. Read the full story →
Paralympian Veteran Waited 5 Years for a Wheelchair Lift. She Says Canada Offered Her Assisted Death.
Retired Canadian Army Cpl. Christine Gauthier, a paraplegic Paralympian, told Parliament that a Veterans Affairs case manager suggested medical assistance in dying while she spent five years fighting for a wheelchair lift for her home. Her 2022 testimony is circulating again this month, and it should. She asked for equipment, and the bureaucracy that stalled on the lift moved much faster when the subject was death. Lifelong Democrat Sheriff Quits the Party After Locals Told Him to Leave for Backing Rogers and James
Saginaw County Sheriff William Federspiel, a lifelong Democrat who has led his Michigan county’s law enforcement since 2009, endorsed Republicans Mike Rogers for Senate and John James for governor. He says his local party then went on Facebook and told him to leave immediately, and he cites abortion and early prison releases as reasons for breaking ranks. When a party throws out a sheriff its voters keep rehiring, the party has the problem, not the sheriff. Read the full story →
Taco Bell Coworker’s Tip Stopped a Self-Described Neo-Nazi’s Alleged Plot Against an Aurora Hindu Temple
Police say Alexandros Paporakis, a 19-year-old self-described neo-Nazi from Palatine, sat in the parking lot of an Aurora Hindu temple on Oct. 11 with an AR-style rifle, body armor and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. A coworker at his Taco Bell read his messages, took them seriously and called police, and he was in custody the same day on a Class X terrorist threat charge. That coworker deserves the credit here, because seeing something and saying something actually works. Read the full story →
Glenview Teen Shot Dead at Home: Sheriff Says Evidence Is There, Cook County Still Won’t Charge
A 16-year-old Glenbrook South sophomore was shot and killed in her family’s Glenview apartment on March 28, and more than six months later nobody has been charged. The Cook County Sheriff’s Office says the evidence supports charges, while the State’s Attorney’s Office announced on June 10 that it can’t meet its burden of proof. Her mother says she believes she knows who did it, and Cook County prosecutors owe that family far more than a shrug. Read the full story →

The FBI, Postal Inspection Service and Capitol Police are investigating more than 100 powder-filled letters mailed nationwide, including to election offices in at least 15 states and the offices of several senators, less than three weeks before the midterms. No injuries have been reported, and preliminary tests found the contents were not hazardous. Whoever is behind this is trying to intimidate the people who run American elections, and they need to be found and prosecuted. Read the full story →
New Jersey Deputy Attorney General Charged With Using AI to Create and Share Child Sexual Abuse Material
Bucks County prosecutors say Brian Fitzgerald, 51, a New Jersey deputy attorney general, used artificial intelligence to generate child sexual abuse material, shared images of real children as well, and admitted it in Discord chats. He faces three felony counts and is being held on $2 million bail. A man sworn to enforce the law is accused of one of the worst crimes there is, and I want to see the full weight of the law applied to him. Read the full story →
Truth doesn’t need an apology, whether it comes from Jerusalem or from a sheriff’s office in Michigan, and I’ll keep telling it straight.
